Survey: Attitudes and behaviour at work towards persons living with HIV
51.5% of respondents having in the past worked with a person living with HIV state that this person was rejected by colleagues! 47.7% indicate that this person was the focus of rumours and gossip; 30.9% state that the person was the victim of harassment. Close to 40% of employers surveyed during the second phase of the survey, state that they would avoid hiring, if they could, a person living with HIV.
This COCQ-SIDA survey carried out by Axiome Communication, to the general public (1054 respondents) and employers (111 respondents) of Quebec, demonstrates that persons living with HIV face more obstacles in the work environment than persons with another chronic illness.
