By making a planned donation, you allow the “Fondation québécoise du sida” to continue the long term fight against AIDS alongside its member organizations.
HIV affects your customers and employees, their families and friends. We must fight it by taking concrete actions. By supporting the “Fondation québécoise du sida”, your company is partnering with the most important fundraising organization for people living with HIV. The Foundation benefits from public support and is recognized in Quebec. We are making a real difference in the lives of people living with HIV / AIDS. A partnership with the “Fondation québécoise du sida” will show that you are sensitive to this disease which continues to wreak havoc in Quebec and around the world. When your business takes a leadership role in the fight against HIV / AIDS, you show your customers, employees and your community that you care about people living with HIV / AIDS and that you are determined to participate in the fight for the eradication of this pandemic. The “Fondation québécoise du sida” can provide you with an opportunity to support the cause. A bequest is one of the simplest and easiest ways to plan a gift. Once you have determined that your estate will take care of your family and loved ones, you can decide to bequeath part of your estate to the “Fondation québécoise du sida” by entering this donation in your will.
An official receipt will be issued to be applied to the donor’s final income tax return after death.
The tax benefits can result in a sharp reduction in the taxes the estate would have to pay.
Your support is key to the outcome of this battle: together we will defeat HIV / AIDS!
GIFT OF A LIFE INSURANCE POLICY
It is possible to designate a charity as the beneficiary of the death benefits of a life insurance policy. There are two ways to make such a donation without penalizing your heirs:
Designate the Foundation as beneficiary of the life insurance.
The life insurance policy is assigned to the “Fondation québécoise du sida”, which becomes the owner and beneficiary of the policy.
This can be used to offset your annual income tax contribution as long as you pay the annual premium on this policy.
The Foundation issues an official receipt to the donor’s estate, which becomes a 100% deductible tax credit and any excess amount may apply to the return for the year prior to the donor’s death.
DONATION OF AN RRSP OR RRIF
You can change the beneficiary information in the contract and notify the financial institution that manages your retirement account, or indicate your decision in your will. Retirement funds are the most heavily taxed because they are added to your final tax return as taxable income. A person who has $100,000 in their RRSP or RRIF will have that amount added to their income for the year of their death, and it will be taxed at the highest marginal rate. However, when a charity is designated as beneficiary of a registered plan, the official receipt issued by the registered plan and covering the full amount transferred may offset the tax.
When plan assets are directly designated, they do not go into the estate and are therefore not subject to probate fees (these do not exist in Quebec). In addition, your estate will receive a tax credit.
This is an effective way to avoid a tax bill and preserve the value of funds.
DONATION IN MEMORIAM
A source of comfort for the family and hope for people living with HIV. Upon the death of a loved one, you can express your condolences to the family by sending us a donation in Memoriam. We will then send the bereaved family a condolence card confirming receipt of your donation, and send you a tax receipt for tax reporting purposes. If you would like more information on this subject, please do not hesitate to contact us.

It is also possible to ask us to create an online page that can accept donations in memoriam.
DONATION OF SECURITIES
Do you own stocks, mutual funds, bonds or other securities? You could give them to the “Fondation québécoise du sida”. However, in order to benefit from this credit, the titles themselves must be transferred directly to the Foundation, without selling them first. You can donate stocks and managed investment vehicles such as ETFs, investment funds and pooled funds.
A gift of securities allows you to avoid paying income tax owing on the taxable portion of your capital gains.
An official receipt for 100% of the fair market value of your securities will be given to you on the day of the direct or electronic transfer to the Foundation’s account.
